Saturday December 28

Was at Blue again Saturday evening meeting up with running friend Rene around 4pm.  It was super icy and he had been out all day on his third and final day so we didn't hang out long.  Met up with JP and skied another couple of hours crossing paths with Karl and Darrell at the end of the night.

Wiped out pretty good exiting the Silver Bullet chair lift.   All I know is I was down hard on my tailbone and had the skis 180 deg to each other thank god the binding gave way!   Right knee is a bit tight today ...probably no big deal and the lower back is a wee bit tender!

That wipe out was followed by a near wipe out 2 runs later on Apple Bowl.   Thought there would be some snow along the North side of the run but I was wrong.  Ended up sideways almost in the snow ,  a momemntary down followed by a backwards V then straightened it up....no yard sale this time.

Night 2

Made it to Blue after working Friday.   I was sick through the week but coming around Friday so I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised.     Add three runs to my trace snow data ...keep forgetting to start the app.   Conditions were pretty good ,  first few runs were tentative until I found my legs.   Met up with Patrick and  Darrel and two others.  They were late starting at 7 vs my 6 so I only hung out with them for a little over an hour with a planned long run scheduled the next morning.

Two more trips to Blue last week.  Thursday Dec 12 during the day was really good!

Thursday

Loved the Legacy / Apple Bowl Run ,  it had just opened this week and the snow was fantastic! 

Sunday

Sunday was a blast 11 of us on the hill.   Left home at 2:30 pm and was skiing by 3:30 ...my earliest eve skiing start ever.   Met up with Patrick and gang at 6:00 pm and skied another hour before calling it a night.

Wednesday and Thursday

 Got out twice this week  starting both days before the official 09:00 am lift start.

On Dec 4th the snow was soft but true.  Love running the lift line under the Silver Bullet Chair.   Went for about 90 minutes before taking a coffee break and getting my skis tuned up.  When I went back out it was night and day the skis were grabbing like crazy ... tune up is worth it ,  only did a few more runs then called it a day.   It was the first day for the new coat ,   pants , googles and helmut.  All were fantastic ,   it was -1C and I was 100% comfortable with a light cotton layer under. 

On Dec 5th it was colder -4C and very hard but not icy.   The new edges gave me an edge.  Did more or less teh same thing as the day before.  Remember to start the trace snow app....

Season Opener - November 15 2019

 Its really really really good to be back Skiing again!   I was ready to go and waiting at the top of Tranquility at 08:35 waiting for the first load of skiers to come up the chair then off I went!   Conditions were fantastic for the first 90 minutes I was tearing down under the Silver Bullet just where I left off last season.   It got busy and with only two hills open they got chewed up but I was OK with that because of how incredibly great it was early on.

Last day of the 2018-2019 Ski Season - April 17, 2019

Started November 30 ,  ended today April 17.  There was a first today,  windshield of the car was coated in bugs enroute to the hill!    Guess that a sign that today was the last day! 

6 consecutive months of skiing in Ontario

Winter in Ontario really is long,  I started skiing at Blue in late November and  probably  had my last day on the hill April 4....6 calendar month of the lifts turning.     Conditions we groomed and hard after a -6C night.   The Sun was out and the temps warmed to around the freezing mark when I hit the slopes. 

Spring Skiing

Last Wednesday I spent the morning at Blue enjoying some great spring skiing conditions.    Best run was under the Wilder Chair great speed at the top followed by large sweeping turns all the way to the bottom. 

Orchard Glades

Loved the Glades at the Orchard today.   Arrived shortly after opening skiing the groomers for the first hour.  When they were tracked out I hit the Orchard sticking to the glades.    Didn't follow anyone's tracks,  there weren't many!   There was a couple of feet of untouched snow ...it was a blast! 

Tremblant 2019

 Made my annual trip to Tremblant last week.   Had some of the best conditions ever Skiing two days First Tracks to the last Gondola up then did a Snowshoe to the Summit on the third day. 

Friday January 11

 Intended on going out early in the day but I got busy at home so I did and evening Ski instead.   This was the first time out under the lights this year and the coldest at -13C.   Did a Run ,  got my skies tuned up then skied for a couple of hours heading home a little after 8pm.  Conditions were pretty good ... lots of snow making going on.
